Isabella Orfano has long-standing experience in research; policy development; networking and advocacy; planning and management of local, national, European, and international programs and projects on anti-trafficking, migration, gender, and LGBTQ-related issues, with the goal of protecting the human rights of vulnerable groups and improving institutional and non-governmental responses. She has worked for several NGOs (inter alia, On the Road and Diversity); international organizations (EU, OSCE,UNODC, ICMPD); governments, and local authorities (Municipalities of Rome and Bologna).

He is an expert on trafficking in human beings, researcher, trainer, project planner and coordinator. Since the mid-90s, he has worked as a social worker (drug addiction, prostitution, minors) and as an international volunteer in different countries, including Bosnia, Northern Ireland, Brazil, and Mexico. He has taken part in international cooperation projects in Afghanistan, Pakistan and has collaborated with EuropAid and ICMPD for the development of national anti-trafficking systems in Kosovo, Thailand, and Uzbekistan.

She is an independent evaluator since 1992. She worked for several years for the European Union to specifically assess youth programmes. Eventually, she has specialized in the development of systems and programmes to evaluate especially national and European social policies. She has also worked for UNICRI, Emilia-Romagna Region, foundations, and third sector organizations. She is also a trainer on the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of social projects and programmes, with a special focus on human trafficking. Since 2017 she is a member of the advisory board of the Italian Association of Evaluation (Associazione Italiana di Valutazione).
